Kids

Each summer we offer Sail School, a week-long camp dedicated to teaching kids the joys of being on the water. Starting at age 9, children are taught the basics of sailing and have hands-on experience in Zumas, Lasers, catamarans, centerboards, and even big boats.

Join the riverhouse and Eugene Yacht Club for a summer of sailing during our day camp offered during July and August for children 11-17. Our fleet of small sailboats are ideal for picking up this unique skill. Members can sign up in the members only section of the website, non members can sign up through the city of Eugene at: https://rec.eugene-or.gov/OR/city-of-eugene-or/catalog search for "youth sailing camp".

Please note: every person—member or guest—who participates in EYC's youth sailing program must have a signed Minor Sailing Activities Agreement and Medical Release on file. Please download, fill out, and bring to EYC. Guests may be passengers on boats but only members are allowed to skipper a club boat.

At the end of the summer, our young sailors are invited to participate in the Jim Skeen Memorial UnRegatta, an afternoon designed for and dedicated to sailing fun.

ADULTS

Adults are welcome at Sail School, too! In fact, we have a high percentage of adults attend camp each summer, and we always offer a women's only class.

For those who want to learn on the race course, it's easy to find a spot to crew on a Thursday night. You can show up on the docks about 5:30 p.m. and see who needs some help or you can sign up on the Crew Finder and we'll work to find a spot on a boat for you. You can also sign up for a Tuesday Fun Race ride by visiting the Crew Finder page.

Sailing classes are also available through Eugene Parks and Recreation. Some classes are even taught by EYC members.
